gregory1Reminiscing  about the event that took place Nov30th at the Town & Country Convention Center. It was the Chargers Blood Drive XXXII. I am proud to have been a part of such a noble event. It was an opportunity to be part of one of the many ways the Chargers give back to the community. This event helped the San Diego Blood Bank, the primary supplier of blood to hospitals, collect over 1251 pints of blood. With over 3000 San Diegans attending, it also brought awareness to the community about the needs of our fellow citizens.

It was my first time attending and was awesome experience to be surrounded by so many Charger fans who shared the same excitement that I did about our city and our team: The San Diego Super Chargers. I even enjoyed waiting in line to donate blood and the lines to meet players and get autographs because of the great people I met and hearing their stories and experiences. With the free food and drinks offered by sponsors, I ate and drank with some of them. The time flew walking around from booth to booth meeting people from radio stations and other companies.  For everybody’s entertainment there was live music on a stage (I personally enjoyed the Music Machine from Bonita Vista High School). To keep children busy and entertained there was a face painting clown and magician. There were also tables and booths set up offering fans an opportunity to purchase Charger memorabilia and merchandise. I heard the fashion show put on by the players and their family later on was all the rage.

This event took place from 10am to 6pm. If I could have I most definitely would have stayed the whole 8hrs.  Id like to give a personal thanks to the team, the players, the fans, the guest speakers and especially the sponsors who helped make it possible. I’d also like to encourage the fans and the community to come out and support our team and our community any time the opportunity arises. It is well worth it.

  • Norv Turner: Antonio Gates is back to where we want him
It has been a rough couple of years for Chargers tight end Antonio Gates. He missed six games in 2010 and three games, along with parts of others, last year because of a foot injury. He’s still been productive — 17 touchdown catches — but his presence in the lineup has been missed for the…
  • Junior Seau’s restaurant closes
The San Diego restaurant that Junior Seau owned is going out of business. Trustees of Seau’s estate announced the decision to close Seau’s The Restaurant on Wednesday, two weeks after Seau committed suicide. The trustees said the restaurant’s ability to be profitable without Seau’s leadership was in question. Seau’s described itself as the largest sports…
  • Bike stolen from Seau’s home recovered
Last night, a disturbing report emerged that a burglary occurred at linebacker Junior Seau’s home only five days after he died there.  The good news, if there is any, is that police have recovered the $500 bike stolen from the garage. The bicycle, which belongs to a friend of Seau’s, was found in the possession…
  • Junior Seau’s home burglarized
Here’s a sad and pathetic footnote to the death of linebacker Junior Seau.  His house in Oceanside, California was burglarized last week, according to the North County Times. Police say that, on May 7, someone used the dog door to force entry through the garage door, rummaged through cabinets in the garage, and stole a…
  • The Chargers have signed all their draft picks
Cross another team off the list. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers have reached agreement on a four-year contract with strong safety Brandon Taylor. That makes them the fifth team in the league to sign all of their draft picks. The Chargers targeted Taylor and traded up with the Dolphins…
